HDPE Hose Floats Delivered for Southeast Asia Offshore Dredging Project

A Chinese marine hose accessories manufacturer completed mass delivery of heavy-duty HDPE hose floats for a large offshore dredging project in Southeast Asia. These split-type foam filled hose floats are used to support floating dredge hose lines, keeping the slurry pipeline stably suspended on seawater surface during sand reclamation works.

The hose floats adopt high density polyethylene shell with closed-cell foam filling. The two-half shell snap lock design allows fast installation without hoisting equipment. It features strong UV resistance, saltwater corrosion resistance and impact resistance against wave collision. Available in multiple sizes to match dredging hoses from DN200 up to DN800, the product design service life reaches 15 years under continuous marine exposure.

In the past, the contractor faced frequent float cracking and water ingress issues under long wave impact, which caused pipeline sinking, interrupted slurry transportation and extra maintenance cost. After technical evaluation, the project team selected this upgraded hose float solution. Each float unit provides stable buoyancy and protects rubber dredging hose from seabed scraping, abrasion and excessive bending fatigue.

During early site trial, the hose floats maintained full buoyancy under 3–4m wave conditions, no shell crack or foam waterlogging occurred. The whole floating pipeline system runs continuously with less manual inspection. The contractor plans to place repeat orders for follow-up dredging phases and introduce these hose floats into their regional reclamation projects. Industry analysts note modular HDPE hose floats become preferred choice for dredging and coastal engineering, reducing pipeline failure rate and cutting overall offshore operation expense.
